About The Spade Oak

The best way to describe The Spade Oak, a characterful country pub & restaurant in the sleepy, riverside village of Bourne End, is to imagine you're sitting in best front room ever. Relax by the fire or unwind in our a leafy garden with a pint of cask ale or well-chosen wine from our extensive list, and dig into a plate of delicious, home-cooked pub-food. Bliss. You might even hear the purr of our resident moggy.

Farmyard beginnings and famous neighbours

The building was originally a collection of barns and outbuildings until someone had the good sense to transform them into a pub. And get this: Enid Blyton used to live next door.
